A 20% deposit confirms your booking; it is non-refundable, with the balance due upon arrival. Booking direct not only means your breakfast is included but also guarantees a stay arranged personally around you. Please note, the 20% deposit is non-refundable, and no refunds can be issued once your stay has begun (check-in) for any unused nights.

Rates & Payment — All rates are in IDR, net, and include taxes. Our rooms and villas, including the Villa Manoa Kei, are priced per night; Ina Roa operates on a full-board per person basis. Any villa can be booked room by room or in its entirety for families or groups.

Minimum Stay — A minimum stay of 2 nights applies at both Manoa and Ina Roa. Note that Ina Roa also requires 2 adults; its boat transfer (from 1,500,000 one way) and Ngurtafur donation (200,000/group) are arranged separately.

Children — Villas — Under 3 stay free; children under 12 can share a parent's room without extra charges (an additional floor mattress is available for 200,000/night upon request, subject to availability, and child's breakfast for 100,000). For children aged 12 and older, adult rates apply.

Children — Ina Roa (full board) — Under 3 stay free (when sharing); for additional children aged 4–11, extra mattress + linen is available for 200,000/night and full-board meals for 150,000/day, upon request and subject to availability. Rates for children aged 12 and above reflect adult pricing.

By air

Manoa, located in the beautiful Kei Islands, is situated on Kei Kecil, approximately 35 to 45 minutes from Karel Sadsuitubun Airport in Langgur. For those booking Kei Islands travel, it's important to note that flights usually connect through Ambon, Makassar, or Jakarta, depending on the airline and current schedules. Be aware that domestic routes in eastern Indonesia may change, be delayed, or even cancelled with little notice.

We strongly recommend choosing flexible or refundable tickets whenever possible to accommodate any unforeseen changes.

Plan your connections carefully

If you're planning a trip to the Kei Islands, do not schedule a tight connection between your flight from Kei and an international departure. Regional flights can be influenced by weather, operational changes, or aircraft availability. It's safest to allow at least one additional night in Ambon, Makassar, or Jakarta before your international flight.

Manoa cannot be held responsible for any missed connections, airline changes, delays, or cancellations.

By sea

Passenger ships and ferries provide essential travel information for those accessing the Kei Islands from Ambon, Banda, Dobo, Kaimana, Fakfak, Merauke, and other regions of Maluku and Papua, but be prepared for irregular schedules that may change based on sea conditions. Pelni vessels are typically the most reliable option for longer inter-island journeys. Smaller ferries and local boats may experience delays or cancellations during rough sea periods.

Please note that schedules are generally published less than one month in advance, making it difficult to plan sea journeys far ahead. Always check the latest timetable shortly before your travel.

Airport transfers

Manoa can arrange a private transfer between Karel Sadsuitubun Airport and the villas at Villa Manoa Kei. Please send us your flight details in advance so that our driver can be ready upon your arrival. Transfers can also be coordinated from the port or from Langgur and Tual.

Kei enjoys a particularly pleasant tropical maritime climate, shaped by shifting easterly and westerly winds rather than by a single, sharply defined dry and rainy season. Sunshine and rain can alternate throughout the year, while evenings and nights are often pleasantly cooler. July–August — Steady easterly winds usually bring favorable conditions for kitesurfing, windsurfing, and other wind-based activities. The sea may feel slightly cooler, and some crossings can be more exposed. Cash in Kei

Cash remains essential in the Kei Islands for visitors seeking booking Kei Islands experiences.

Most restaurants, warungs, drivers, boat owners, guides, artisans, and village providers accept Indonesian rupiah only. Card payments are rarely available outside larger shops in Langgur and Tual. 

There is no card terminal at Villa Manoa Kei.

Meals, excursions, transport, rentals, and other extras at Villa Manoa Kei must therefore be paid in cash unless another payment arrangement has been agreed in advance.

Room payments can be made by bank transfer. For international guests, Wise often makes transfers easier and is also useful for payments elsewhere in Indonesia.

Foreign currency

There is no official money changer in the Kei Islands. 

Some banks may exchange foreign currency, but they generally accept only recent banknotes in excellent condition, without tears, marks, stains, or heavy folds. Older or damaged notes may be refused.

It is therefore safer to arrive with Indonesian rupiah or to withdraw cash from an ATM rather than relying on exchanging foreign currency locally.

ATMs

ATMs are available in Langgur and Tual, but withdrawals can occasionally fail because of network problems, machine limits, or lack of cash.

Many machines limit each withdrawal to 1,000,000 IDR, although several consecutive withdrawals may sometimes be possible depending on the bank and the card.

International cards are not accepted by every ATM. We recommend withdrawing enough money before reaching Villa Manoa Kei and keeping a reasonable cash reserve for the duration of your stay while collecting travel information Kei.

Tips are never expected, but they are always appreciated at Villa Manoa Kei. At Manoa, all tips are placed in a shared box and evenly distributed among the entire team. Villa Manoa lies between the forest and the sea, in a vibrant tropical environment. Birds, geckos, butterflies, insects, crabs, and other small animals are naturally part of the surroundings. Despite regular cleaning and maintenance, tropical wildlife may occasionally enter rooms, verandas, or outdoor areas, providing a unique experience for those booking Kei Islands accommodations.

Mosquitoes are not constantly present and are generally less intrusive than many travelers expect in a tropical destination. As a preventive measure, the villas are treated regularly, with particular attention during the wetter months. However, mosquito repellent is still recommended, especially around sunset and during forest or mangrove outings.

Life around Villa Manoa Kei includes chickens, dogs, cats, and even a wild boar, which are integral parts of the local ecosystem. This is not a sealed resort environment but rather an island home shared with animals, the village, and the surrounding nature.

The forests of Kei Kecil are home to various wildlife, including squirrels, cuscus, wild boar, and monitor lizards, along with many insects like stick insects and longhorn beetles that appear more frequently during certain seasons. Green frogs may also be seen during wetter periods.

While snakes are present in the Kei Islands, including at least one highly venomous species, encounters remain uncommon, but caution is essential when walking through forests, gardens, tall grass, or rocky terrain.

Closed shoes are strongly recommended for forest walks and rocky ground, while boots are preferable for longer walks or rougher terrain. Avoid placing hands into holes, beneath rocks, or inside dense vegetation, and always follow the guidance of local guides for the best travel information Kei has to offer.

Villa Manoa on Kei Kecil is connected to the local electricity grid, which, unfortunately, is prone to power cuts. Most interruptions are temporary; however, longer outages can occur during severe weather or due to technical issues elsewhere on the island. During a power cut, air conditioning, hot water, some lighting, and other electrical equipment may be temporarily unavailable. Wi-Fi, provided through the Starlink system, may also be interrupted, as its routers require electricity. 

Villa Manoa offers a generator for essential emergency use, allowing us to keep the well pump operating and provide a minimal supply of electricity and lighting. However, it is not designed to power the entire property continuously or run all air-conditioning units and electrical equipment during an extended outage. 

Our fresh water comes from a well that we dug ourselves. Water is a limited and fragile resource on this small coral island. During prolonged dry spells, especially in El Niño years, the water level may drop significantly, making shortages a genuine concern. 

We kindly ask guests to use water and electricity responsibly when booking Kei Islands: 

- Switch off air conditioning, fans, and lights when leaving the room; 

- Avoid unnecessarily long showers or leaving taps running; 

- Use laundry services reasonably, particularly during dry periods; 

- Dispose of rubbish in the bins provided; 

- Only place toilet paper and human waste in the toilets. 

Villa Manoa provides Starlink Wi-Fi, which is generally suitable for messaging, emails, video calls, and everyday internet use. However, connection quality may vary due to heavy rain, technical interruptions, or power cuts. 

Mobile coverage is available across much of Kei Kecil but may be unstable, particularly in remote villages, on outer islands, or during boat trips and expeditions where the signal can weaken or disappear entirely. 

Continuous electricity, water pressure, and internet access cannot be guaranteed. This is part of the experience when visiting a remote island environment like Kei Islands, where essential resources must be managed carefully. Small gestures can make a significant difference in preserving these resources and maintaining essential services for everyone.

Breakfast is included for guests who book directly at Villa Manoa Kei. For reservations made through other platforms, breakfast can be enjoyed for 100,000 IDR per person. 

For lunch and dinner, we provide a complete menu at 160,000 IDR per person, complemented by a small selection of lighter options for those who prefer a simpler meal. 

To ensure meals are fresh and to minimize waste, we prepare food based on the expected number of guests. Therefore, we kindly ask guests to inform us in the morning about their meal preferences for the day. Please note, any meal ordered and prepared will be charged. 

Our cooking showcases local flavors, offering generous and creative dishes crafted from fresh fish, seafood, vegetables, tubers, spices, and seasonal produce. With advance notice, we can accommodate vegetarian meals, as well as allergies and other dietary requirements. 

Many guests highlight Manoa’s food as one of the most enjoyable aspects of their stay. Additionally, we offer cooking experiences that include an early visit to the Langgur market to select fresh ingredients, followed by a hands-on Kei-style cooking session back at Villa Manoa Kei.

During your stay at Villa Manoa Kei, we can arrange off-site laundry for your convenience. Simply leave your laundry with our team in the morning. For those looking for quick service, a faster 24-hour option is available at a higher rate, while a more economical choice includes a 48- or 72-hour turnaround. Please note that timing may occasionally vary due to factors such as weather conditions, electricity supply, and the laundry team’s availability. It's important to avoid sending delicate, fragile, or high-value garments, as the service is provided by an independent local laundry. The Manoa team and members of the village can assist you in arranging motorbike or car rental for your booking in the Kei Islands. Motorbike rental typically starts from 100,000–150,000 IDR per day, depending on the bike's model. Cars can be arranged with or without a driver, subject to availability, making it convenient for your travel in the Kei Islands. Vehicles are rented directly from their owners, with Manoa serving only as a facilitator for these services.

When it comes to driving, international visitors should ensure they possess a valid driving licence and an International Driving Permit to drive legally in Indonesia. Guests are responsible for confirming that their documents, insurance, and experience are suitable for the vehicle they wish to use during their stay at Villa Manoa Kei.

Safety is paramount, and wearing a helmet is mandatory while riding a motorbike. Note that any accident involving a rider not wearing a helmet may not be covered by travel or medical insurance. Moreover, healthcare facilities on the island are limited, and serious injuries may necessitate evacuation to another city.

Be aware that road conditions can vary, with potential hazards like animals, pedestrians, potholes, unlit vehicles, and poor visibility, particularly after dark.

Regarding any issues such as accidents, breakdowns, theft, or damage involving a rented vehicle, these must be reported immediately to the owner. Guests are liable for the cost of repairs for any damage incurred during the rental period, as per the agreement made with the vehicle owner. Manoa accepts no responsibility for accidents, injuries, theft, fines, breakdowns, damage, or disputes arising from the rental or use of a vehicle.

Life in Kei is governed not only by national laws but also by adat — the customary laws and values that shape the conduct of villages, families, land, and sea. For those interested in exploring the Kei Islands, it's essential to understand these customs, especially when booking Kei Islands accommodations or activities. 

Certain beaches, forests, reefs, and islands are deemed sacred or are regulated by sasi, meaning access may require specific permissions, offerings, or customary compensation. Thus, whenever you plan your activities in Kei, remember that an empty spot should not be assumed to be freely accessible.

Visitors are advised to dress modestly in villages and sacred areas; swimwear is meant for the beach, not for markets, villages, or places of worship. Riding a motorbike in a swimsuit or bikini is viewed as disrespectful and is strongly discouraged in Kei. 

Additionally, always seek permission before photographing people, ceremonies, sacred locations, or customary items. All boat trips, island visits, expeditions, and specialist activities in the Kei Islands are undertaken at the traveller’s own risk and under the traveller’s own insurance. To ensure a safe experience while booking Kei Islands activities, guests must travel with comprehensive insurance that covers all planned activities, including: 

- Boat travel and journeys to remote islands; 

- Snorkeling and freediving; 

- Scuba diving and spearfishing; 

- Trekking and forest activities; 

- Motorbike use; 

- Medical treatment; 

- Emergency evacuation; 

- Search and rescue; 

- Repatriation.  

Healthcare facilities in Kei are limited, and search-and-rescue capacity at sea is minimal. Emergency evacuation can be difficult, delayed, and expensive. Guests are responsible for confirming that their insurance is valid for Indonesia, the Kei Islands, remote maritime travel, and all activities planned during their stay.  

At Villa Manoa Kei, guests may request assistance in connecting with independent local providers, including boat owners, captains, fishermen, guides, drivers, and other service providers. These services and activities are provided directly by the relevant local provider; Villa Manoa Kei acts only as a local contact and facilitator and does not operate the activity. 

The independent provider determines the route, timing, equipment, operating conditions, and safety decisions. Guests should confirm the price, service, and conditions with the provider before departure. Each traveller is responsible for assessing their own health, swimming ability, experience, physical condition, and suitability for the proposed activity. Instructions from the captain, guide, or provider must be followed at all times.  

The independent provider may modify, postpone, refuse, or cancel an activity when weather, sea conditions, equipment issues, or participant conditions make it inappropriate or unsafe. Guests must inform the provider of any medical condition, medication, pregnancy, injury, or other circumstance that could affect their ability to participate safely. Guests should carry any necessary personal medication, as emergency medical assistance may not be immediately available. Children and teenagers remain under the responsibility and supervision of their parents or legal guardians at all times. 

Guests must not participate in boat trips, swimming, diving, motorbike use, or adventure activities while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication that impairs judgment or physical ability.  

Sea outings are provided by independent local captains and crews, who are responsible for operational decisions regarding the route, departure time, landing places, and sea conditions. Local sea outings typically involve at least one captain and one assistant. Life jackets must be worn whenever requested by the captain or crew, and all safety instructions must be followed. Encounters with wildlife, such as dolphins, turtles, manta rays, dugongs, and whale sharks, occur naturally and cannot be guaranteed.

Villa Manoa Kei does not operate around fixed excursion programmes. Activities depend on the tides, sea conditions, season, weather, customary access, and the availability of the people involved. A fisherman, musician, artisan, village elder, or customary chief is not a permanent tourism provider. Meetings and visits must be arranged respectfully and cannot always be confirmed at short notice. Some outings begin directly from Manoa, while others depart from Pasir Panjang, Debut, Dullah, Ohoililir, Ngier Varat, or the east coast, depending on the destination and conditions.
